Welcome to the State of Black Chicago Congress

THE MISSION of the State of Black Chicago Congress (SBCC) is to mobilize the community of African descent, in order to develop a plan of action that ameliorates conditions such as the crime and violence, inequitable distribution of educational resources and opportunities, joblessness, slow business development and opportunities, disappearing black media, inadequate youth engagement and leadership development, poor health, and the public’s concern over the involvement of the Black Church.

The State of Black Chicago Congress (SBCC) will focus on the African American Community and address some of the many issues that we face in today’s society. The SBCC has chosen nine issue areas that will lead the discussion.

12-12:30pm – Lunch Break

12:45pm – Panel III: Crime and Violence; Youth Engagement & Leadership Development; Education Access and Resources

2:45pm – Keynote Panel

4pm – Next Steps Plan of Action Presentation and Remarks by Honorary Co-Chairs

5:30pm – Local Artist Showcase

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

On-site registration begins at 7:30am on June 1st at the Emil and Patricia Jones Convocation Center at Chicago State University located at 9501 S. King Drive. Campus parking is available.
